Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site's owner about how the site is being used.
2. Cookies We Use
RankSentinel uses two categories of cookies:
Essential cookies
These are strictly necessary for the website to function. They do not collect any personal data that could be used for marketing or to track you across other websites. Essential cookies are set without requiring your consent.
- rs-cookie-consent — stores your cookie consent preference (“granted” or “denied”) in your browser's localStorage so we do not ask again on subsequent visits. This value never leaves your device.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use RankSentinel — which pages are most visited, how long people spend on the site, and where they come from. This helps us improve the product. These cookies are only set if you accept.
- _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics cookies that distinguish unique visitors and track session data. Data is aggregated and anonymised before we see it.
- _gcl_* — Google Click ID cookies used for campaign attribution, only active when ad measurement is enabled.
3. Consent — Where Required
In jurisdictions where opt-in consent is required before setting analytics cookies (including the EU, EEA, and UK), we detect your region automatically using your browser's timezone — no network request is made before consent is given.
A consent banner will appear on your first visit. Analytics cookies are blocked by default until you click Accept. If you click Reject, only essential cookies are used and no analytics data is collected.
Visitors from regions where consent is not legally required will not see the banner and analytics will function normally.
4. How to Change or Withdraw Your Consent
You can change your preference at any time using either of these methods:
- Clear the stored value: Open your browser's developer tools (F12 → Application → Local Storage → ranksentinel.co), delete the key
rs-cookie-consent, then reload the page. The consent banner will reappear. - Clear all cookies and site data: Most browsers allow you to clear cookies for a specific site via Settings → Privacy → Site data. This will also reset your consent choice.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Third-Party Cookies
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or cross-site profiling cookies. The only third-party service that may set cookies on RankSentinel is Google Analytics, and only if you have accepted analytics cookies.
6. Further Information
For information about how we handle your personal data more broadly — including your rights under GDPR and UK GDPR — please read our Privacy Policy. If you have questions about our use of cookies, contact us at privacy@ranksentinel.co.
